DISCOVERY!

Discovery

Gemological Institute of America is THE source for grading and appraising gemstones.  It is an institute of learning as well.  They have information available to everyone who wishes to learn a little more about colored gemstones, birthstones, diamonds; what and why the 3 C’s are important.

If you are curious about what birthstones are and mean, follow this link to G.I.A. and it may open up a new realm of experience to you.

If you want even more knowledge, go to the main page: www.gia.edu; when the page opens, on the top menu there is a GemKids® icon.  You don’t have to be a kid to learn all about gemstones.  There is an icon for Gem Encyclopedia as well.  This institution is where I have done my training.  Graduate Pearl Certification and Accredited Jewelry Professional; working on a Colored Stone Certification, on my way to Graduate Gemologist.  If you love science and want your children or grandchildren to use those iPhones for some education, try this site.  You’ll be amazed what you learn about those pretty stones!

A note of information, not all jewelers have had gemology training.  Tony is a Master Goldsmith and Joe is a Graduate Gemologist.  They have the training and knowledge of gemology and metals!

Oh and by the way, the main page is the Rainbow World of Opal (this month’s birthstone) the gemstone that has all the colors of the rainbow in it.
